Villaggio is a Sydney-based restaurant group built on family, passion and a lifelong love of food.
Founded by brothers Simon and Harry Kanaan, and supported by their close-knit siblings and families, Villaggio reflects decades of hospitality experience combined with the warmth and generosity of a true family business.
From a young age, Simon Kanaan was inspired by the culinary talents of his father and grandmother. While his twin brother Harry spent his childhood immersed in sport, Simon was drawn to the kitchen, learning family recipes, watching his father cook, and absorbing the traditions of home-style hospitality. At just eleven years old, Simon discovered two lifelong passions: cooking and music.
Simon and Harry are two of five Kanaan brothers, raised in a large and vibrant family that also includes one sister. Growing up in such a close knit household instilled strong values of loyalty, hard work and support for one another’s values that remain central to the Villaggio story today.
As the youngest in the family, Simon shares a particularly strong bond with his twin brother Harry and the rest of the Kanaan siblings. Today, the family has grown even further, with over 25 nieces and nephews, continuing the strong tradition of family connection across generations.
The Kanaan family operates with three guiding principles: Love, Respect and Generosity. These values influence not only their family life but also the way they welcome every guest who walks through the doors of a Villaggio restaurant. After years spent refining their craft within the hospitality industry, the brothers opened their first restaurant in Revesby, NSW in 2011. What began as a single venue has grown into a thriving restaurant group, with Villaggio restaurants, cafés and function spaces located within leading registered clubs across Sydney.
Villaggio’s menus celebrate a blend of Italian, Mediterranean and modern Australian cuisine, alongside traditional family-inspired dishes. The focus is always on fresh local ingredients, generous portions and affordable dining, with members’ pricing available across their venues.
While the business has grown, the philosophy remains unchanged: creating welcoming spaces where great food, great service and genuine hospitality come together. Today, Simon and Harry Kanaan lead the Villaggio team across five locations in Sydney, supported by their brothers and extended family, continuing to evolve and grow while staying true to the values that inspired the journey from the very beginning.
